WWE NXT Newcomer Gets New Ring Name
Former Brandi Lauren renamed after signing for WWE NXT.
Newly-signed WWE wrestler Brandi Lauren has been rechristened Skyler Storey in the promotion, reports PWInsider.
The 24-year-old will go by this monicker going forward. This is despite technically competing under her old ring name on the 23 September episode of NXT, on which she participated in a huge battle royal to determine the number one contender to Io Shirai's NXT Women's Championship. Candice LeRae won that bout, mounting an unsuccessful challenge shortly afterwards.
Storey was one of eight new Performance Center recruits signed by WWE in October, joining fellow former EVOLVE wrestlers Curt Stallion, Anthony Greene, Leon Ruff, Joe Gacy, and Josh Briggs, who was accused of the attempting solicitation of a 13-year-old girl during the #SpeakingOut movement in June.
Referee Jake Clemons and college wrestling standout Jacob Kasper completed the October class.
Storey's first WWE appearance was a guest enhancement spot back in May 2018, when she was used to put Lacey Evans over in under two minutes. She had become a fixture of the WWN Live promotions (including EVOLVE) up until the onset of the global health crisis, though she had to wait until October before her signing was announced.
