WWE NXT's Move To Tuesday Nights In Doubt?

Ongoing TV rights negotiations cast doubt on WWE NXT's move from Wednesday to Tuesdays.

WWE NXT's expected move from Wednesday nights to Tuesdays could be in doubt pending the outcome of negotiations between the NHL and NBC.

The reported move was supposedly a consequence of NBC moving traditional Wednesday night hockey games off its now-defunct NBA Sports Network platform and onto USA Network, taking NXT's timeslot as the more valuable property. 13 April was the expected start date.

This has now been brought into question. Per Dave Meltzer on today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, the NHL and NBC are still in negotiations over a new television rights deal but are "far apart on money." Meltzer noted that they are "not close" to finding a figure that works for both parties.

The NHL is expected to make significantly more money on its new television rights deals than the previous set, despite declining ratings. A new partial rights deal with ESPN will see the league net around $400 million a year, which is double their old deal with NBC.

Meltzer closed the report by saying that a lot of different scenarios could end up panning out, with everything still up in the air. NXT's move hinges on what happens with NBC and the NHL.
