WWE Payback Review: Was It The Best PPV Of 2013 So Far?

John Cena Vs Ryback (WWE Title) (3 Stages of hell)

cena ryback At Extreme Rules these pair gave us a surprisingly brutal and exciting match up so I don€™t think I was alone in presuming that I would be given even more brutality this time around, what with the stipulation and everything. Unfortunately this wasn€™t to be. Ryback and Cena put on what has to be the tamest and least gruelling 3 stages of hell match in history. Ryback picked up the first victory in what was a pretty dull Lumberjack match. John Cena literally managed to squash the whole roster in one go, which was the only highlight of a pretty drab affair. Next up was a tables match which Cena obviously won. Once again nothing of any real note happened here. Cena picked Ryback up a lot only for Ryback to get away until ultimately Cena lifted him up and hit the AA through a table. And finally, the Ambulance match, another dull match up which offered very little of the excitement we had seen from the pair last month. Cena and Ryback literally demolished the ambulance, using every part of it as a weapon until Cena finally hit the AA on Ryback through the roof in what was the matches best moment.

Final Verdict

Overall Payback was one of the most consistent PPV€™s of the year so far. Three title changes and some really solid matches made it an entertaining way to spend three hours. The main event was a little bit of a weak note to end the night on but the concept of a three stages of hell match is always a difficult one to work in terms of timing. Alberto€™s title win has left a bitter taste in the mouth coming out of the night but the return of Punk is enough to have me excited turning into Raw. And let€™s not forget the night€™s big reveal: RVD is back at Money in the Bank! Which has already made that a must see event.
