WWE Planning Huge Celebrations For Steve Austin's 25-Year Anniversary
Here's how WWE will mark Stone Cold's half-century.
WWE is reportedly making big plans for the upcoming 25th anniversary of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin debuting in the promotion.
This is according to WrestleVotes, who claim WWE has concocted a plan similar to that which has unfolded for Triple H's own half-century in Vinceland, with new merchandise and a live appearance on the cards:-
Austin's last WWE appearance was also the company's first empty arena RAW, with 'The Rattlesnake' showing up to celebrate 3:16 Day on 16 March, sharing beers with Becky Lynch, Angelo Dawkins, Montez Ford, and Byron Saxton, who ate a shoot nutshot for his troubles.
8 January 2021 will mark 25 years since Austin debuted in WWE. Conveniently, that's a Friday night, making it easy for WWE to pull something off on that night's SmackDown - assuming audiences are back by then. The promotion won't be shy of making the most of this: nostalgic anniversaries and other celebration shows are one of the few things still capable of popping a decent rating, with 3:16 Day drawing higher numbers than any other RAW over the past five months. All TV metrics are in the toilet at the moment, so expect WWE to milk this.
