Well that was certainly an eventful week.
We had a brilliant NXT TakeOver. There was the slightly less brilliant SummerSlam, which by virtue of its colossal running time, still managed to pack in just as many memorable moments. One MMA star arm-barred her way to the top of the women's division in double quick time. Another was finally dislodged from the apex of the men's equivalent in double-slow time. The Mellabration came to prompt end, the Demon re-rose, and the Bellas are back... !
If that wasn't enough, we saw The Shield hastily reassembled to prop up the new Universal Champ (Jo' is their leader), the hapless Kurt Angle given a long-overdue vacation, and injury necessitate yet another New Day title win, rather making a mockery of their moniker.
And that's just the WWE goings-down that occurred in the ring. As ever, it was seven days of non-stop happenings, with a high-flying talent finally allowed to leave the roost, a low-flying executive shifted sideways, and one very special birthday celebration. Just don't mention his age.
