After a year-and-a-half on Smackdown, Chris Benoit moved to Raw following his amazing coast-to-coast Royal Rumble win. As Rumble winner, he could decide which World Champion he wanted to face at WrestleMania and decided he would go after Raw's Tripe H and the World Heavyweight Title.

The move was a good one for Benoit, since he'd wrestled just about everyone there was to wrestle over on Smackdown. This would give him new matches and feuds and would freshen up his character and revive his career.

One of Benoit's first matches on Raw was a main event against the incomparable Shawn Michaels. The two contested a gripping, 20-minute back-and-forth affair which demonstrated that Benoit was more than capable of headlining the flagship.

Michaels won, which resulted in Eric Bischoff inserting him into the main event of WrestleMania XX. Three months later, on May 3rd, the two men did it again, having yet another blinder in the top spot of Raw.

This time, Benoit's World Heavyweight Title was on the line and, this time, the Rabid Wolverine got the duke (thanks to some assistance from Triple H). There were some standout singles matches on Raw in 2004, but few were better than this pair of belters.
