3. The Shield Continues To Impress, And So Does Y2J
Another live television event, another significant win for The Shield. Slowly but surely they are growing on me, and this week on RAW was no exception. Although they did technically defeat Chris Jericho, it was still another huge win for this group, this time on WWE's flagship show. And also Chris Jericho just continues to put on a clinic of great wrestling with each outing he has had since his return to the WWE at the Royal Rumble. It's nice to see Jericho continue to impress, and it's great to see the members of The Shield growing by leaps and bounds through their big-spot performances these past several weeks; it's exciting to think about what Wrestlemania will bring for all these individuals.
2. A New Championship Belt Is Unveiled
And finally, no pun intended, on Raw this week The Rock helps the WWE retire the spinner version of the WWE Championship Belt. Designed specifically with John Cena in mind nearly 8 years ago for his "thug" persona, the spinner version of the championship belt was a questionable decision and has not been replaced until now. It's a nice change to make as we head towards Wrestlemania, but it's also somewhat confusing for a new championship belt: while having the newer WWE logo on it, is completely outfitted for The Rock. It will be interesting to see how the belt can be modified as it will surely change hands either at Wrestlemania are shortly thereafter, as we cannot expect The Rock to continue to appear on a regular basis on WWE television given his booming Hollywood career.
