WWE Raw Superstar Shake-Up: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (April 16)

7. Meteora Shower

Elsewhere at the commentary table, Michael Cole was labouring over a bar of his own, beating audiences over the head with a move name he'd learned over the past seven days.

Referring to Sasha Banks' running knee attack as a 'meteora' for the first time, he then got to trot out his new line several more times as she (presumably by instruction) repeated the spot on Bayley during their grudge match to hammer the point home.

Sasha's had the attack in circulation for years, so why now does it finally get a typically-heavy handed labelling job from the WWE braintrust? SYNERGY, MAGGLE, that's why. Ricochet has popularised various versions of it over the last few years, and now he's finally on their books the name can come with.

It's yet more branding madness from WWE, of course, and not the first time knees have caused some consternation in the last twelve months. The company went back and forth on what to name Seth Rollins' V-Trigger variant, forcing Cole to often just wail about the bone itself in place of a catchy moniker that never came. Expect 'with the knees' to make a return next week until Ricochet dazzles on another TakeOver and Michael cribs from Mauro yet again.
