WWE Recruiting For New SmackDown Lead Writer

Want to work for WWE's creative department? Here's your chance...

WWE is currently advertising for the position of Lead Writer on SmackDown on the careers section of their corporate website.

Advertised yesterday, this is a full-time position presumably reporting to Vince McMahon and the brand's Creative Director, Bruce Prichard, though no job description is available without following the "apply" link.

The listing comes following the departure of one of SmackDown's previous Lead Writers, Chris DeJoseph. The former Lucha Underground man had shared the role with long-time WWE employee Ed Koskey after receiving a promotion. He was let go following a string of events on 29 May and while specific details haven't been revealed, the move was reportedly a disciplinary one, with improper remarks made during a creative meeting the final straw.

EWrestlingNews.com has reported that whatever happened left Vince McMahon "irate," leading to DeJoseph's departure.

Probably a sneeze, then.

Recent weeks have seen SmackDown transform into a consistent, enjoyable show after a rough post-WrestleMania period. The show is plodding along nicely and its viewership has seemingly settled into a groove as well. It'll be interesting to see if any of this is impacted by the creative change, with DeJoseph now out the window.
