WWE Releases 2020-2021: Where Are They Now?

38. Hit Row

Released: November 2021

Now: Swerve Strickland was the focal point of Hit Row during the group's first WWE run, but he's since moved sideways to AEW. That left B-FAB, Top Dolla and Ashante Adonis to fend for themselves on SmackDown; their comeback hasn't exactly been sparkling though.

That trio returned to the E this past August.

37. Lucha House Party

Released: 15 April (Kalisto)/4 November 2021 (Metalik/Dorado)

Now: Kalisto is on the indy scene as Samuray del Sol, and he wrestled one bout for AEW last year. His old Lucha House Party stablemates are pretty spread out across the pro wrestling map themselves. Gran Metalik works for CMLL, and Lince Dorado inked a deal with MLW after leaving WWE.

Fingers crossed the trio are loving the chance to stand on their own merits.

36. Velveteen Dream

Released: 20 May 2021

Now: Remember when the name Velveteen Dream was synonymous with greatness? Yeah, those days are over. Dream was released amidst a sh*tstorm of grim allegations of sexual contact with underage boys. He was later arrested twice on charges of drug paraphernalia possession and for first degree battery.

The Dream is very-much over - just not in the way he used to be on NXT.

35. EC3

EC3 ROH
ROH

Released: 15 April 2020

Now: These days, EC3 runs his own 'Control Your Narrative' promotion, but appearances are thin on the ground for him overall. In fact, Carter's only real headline-grabbing recently has come when he's bashed ex-employer WWE for (admittedly) booking him terribly on the main roster.

He perhaps fits into the 'watch this space' camp.

34. Kairi Sane

WWE

Released: July/August 2020

Now: See the above date for when Kairi Sane was released from her wrestling contract with WWE. The Japanese stand out did go on to act as an ambassador for the company and as a commentator on broadcasts in her homeland, but that also ended in December 2021.

Now, Sane works for Stardom and seems happy enough doing so.
