WWE Releases Christian From Performer's Contract

The end of the in-ring road has officially arrived for Captain Charisma.

WWE released a number of talents last Friday, including Wade Barrett, Damien Sandow and Hornswoggle. Along with the eight active names released it seems that a couple of veterans were also let go, namely the Brooklyn Brawler and Christian.

Yes, that is correct, Captain Charisma is no longer signed to World Wrestling Entertainment as an active performer.

You'd think that such a turn of events would come with quite the fanfare, seeing as Christian was a multi-time champion in the company and one half of one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history, but the news seems to have slipped under the radar somewhat.

This could be because the release has nothing to do with his deal with the company to produce 'The Edge and Christian Show', meaning Christian is still signed to the company, just not as an in-ring talent. It isn't hugely surprising either, as Christian hadn't wrestled since March 2014 due to a series of concussions and a career of injuries.

So one of the most underrated professional wrestlers of a generation's career is over, and the news has past in typically understated Christian form.

Thanks for the awesomeness, Captain Charisma.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
