WWE Removes Edge From SmackDown Opening
Edge is no longer featured as part of the WWE SmackDown open. AEW signing imminent?!
The rumour mill will only intensify following Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown, because the company removed top star Edge from the opening video.
Originally, the 'Rated-R Superstar' was one of the featured names on there alongside the likes of Roman Reigns and other regularly-spotlighted workers. That was particularly interesting due to Edge's limited schedule, but it was akin to a gesture of goodwill and show of faith in his iconic status.
Now, the Canadian has been whipped out of the open completely.
This comes amidst speculation that the legend could be set to leave WWE when his contract expires at the start of October. Basically, from 1 October, Edge will be free to work wherever he wants. This has naturally led to lots of chatter that the Hall Of Famer could be AEW bound imminently.
That remains to be seen, of course, but it is interesting that WWE removed Edge from internal roster sheets behind the scenes and then from a regular spot on TV shortly afterwards.
Keep your eyes peeled then, 'cause you never know where the celebrated comeback king could turn up next!
