WWE: Rey Mysterio Endorses Tyson Kidd
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v89qz3JbRE With talk of legendary luchadore and former World Champion Rey Mysterio potentially retiring this year due to ongoing knee problems, WWE will be looking to find a man to take the mantle of high-flying superstar. We at WhatCulture.com have looked at potential replacements for the spot and why they would be suited but perhaps Mysterio himself has a suggestion. Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports Rey spoke highly of one superstar in particular, Tyson Kidd.
He hasnt really been given the opportunity but when he gets it he will blow peoples minds. He will wow superstars including even myself and fans because top to bottom and all around he is a complete athlete with a ton of potential. It is hard to argue with Reys assessment of the Hart Dungeon graduate but at 33 years old time may be running out for Kidd to make a push in the company. Despite an impressive start when called up to the main roster five years ago, capturing the Tag Team Championships with DH Smith (son of The British Bulldog), he is still to win a singles championship or even receive a true singles run. He missed most of last year with a dislocated knee involving a complete reconstruction. One thing in his favour comes from his involvement in the Total Divas reality show thanks to his marriage to Natalya but as shown by the Total Divas themselves it isn't really the launch point to get him to a singles star. If WWE worry about his lack of microphone skills or a unique look then they could do much worse than to rebrand him under a mask to create a new high-flying merchandise seller as he could take the advice of Mysterio and combine unique in-ring performances with stand-out attires. Either way, an endorsement from the cruiserweight legend and future Hall of Famer can only help Kidds chances and falls in line with the promotion he has received from several top name stars such as CM Punk, Bret Hart and Chris Jericho in the past. Only the future will show whether WWE get on board with the highly rated Canadian.
