WWE Road To Wrestlemania 29: The Rock Takes Out John Cena

CM Punk vs The Undertaker

Another week of solid build for the match that will see CM Punk try to end The Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak. With the combination of CM Punk's promo skills and The Undertaker's sheer presence, this feud has become perhaps the most interesting match on the Wrestlemania card, and that is despite everyone thinking they already know the result. This week on Raw, Punk opened the show, with Paul Heyman holding aloft Paul Bearer's urn. Punk talked himself up as always, and spoke about how The Undertaker should have walked away after last year's 'End of an Era' match - which is a point even some Undertaker fans might agree with. Punk said the urn which he had stolen meant nothing to him personally, but he knew it meant something to Taker. It is a clever angle to play by Punk, to say that The Undertaker is for the first time at a psychological disadvantage, and to try and undercut the supposedly supernatural powers that define him. As Punk was coming to an end of his diatribe, the lights went out, and as they came back on, The Undertaker appeared behind Punk. I don't care who you are, when The Undertaker does that, it remains one of the coolest mark out moments going in wrestling. Taker unloaded on Punk, who dropped the urn, allowing Heyman to run away with it. Punk eventually escaped, hobbling up the ramp clutching his head, where he was joined by Heyman, urn still in hand. Punk then continued to taunt Taker with the urn, and Taker cut his own throat and marched around the ring. This storyline is an excellent example of how using psychology can improve both the match and the feud. As each week passes it becomes increasingly clear that Punk is under Taker's skin, and that makes it more believable that Punk can perhaps beat him and end the streak. Sure, chances are he will not, and that by the end of the night The Undertaker will stand at 21 - 0, but the build-up at least means this is a match that people will be glued to on the night. Prediction: Common sense says The Undertaker will continue his streak. But since when did common sense have any place in wrestling?
