WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Best Performances By Losing Superstars
3. Stone Cold Steve Austin - 1999
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqVHMRW9Evo By 1999, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vincent Kennedy McMahon had already shared a, to put it nicely, colorful history, with McMahon constantly putting himself in Stone Colds to the WWE Title while Austin focused on making the Chairmans life a living hell. At the Royal Rumble in 1999, McMahon decided he had endured enough, choosing to face Stone Cold one-on-one at the beginning of the Rumble match. Stone Cold was more than happy to oblige, and the two men went at each other with unbridled fury. Stone Cold would take the upper hand early, putting Vince McMahon down long enough to unceremoniously dispatch Golga, who only had fifteen seconds in the ring before the Texas Rattlesnake took him out. The Chairman would then scurry through the crowd, desperately attempting to get away from Stone Cold, but Austin would have none of it, chasing McMahon down in the arena concourse. Stone Cold seemed to have McMahon cornered in a mens room, but was ambushed by the Corporation instead. Austin was beaten badly enough that he was sent to the hospital, and Vince McMahon began to breathe easier. The Chairman even decided to rejoin the action as a commentator trading compliments and insights with Jerry Lawler while Mabel dominated the action inside the ring. Vince McMahons mood would sour very quickly later in the match, as, while the Ministry of Darkness carried Mabel out backstage, an ambulance tore its way through the backstage parking lot. Austin had commandeered his own ambulance, and would not be denied his chance to go to WrestleMania. He stepped out of the ambulance and double-timed it back to the ring. As Mr. McMahons stomach turned inside out, the Texas Rattlesnake would quickly end the nights of Corporation stooge Ken Shamrock, Billy Gunn, Test, Chyna, Triple H, Owen Hart, and McMahon crony Big Boss Man, leaving only Mr. McMahon to face the baddest man in wrestling. Having already suffered the indignity of being dragged back to the ring by Austin, the Chairman proceeded to have the holy hell beaten out of him by Stone Cold, who finally had his chance to exact a pound of flesh for all the torture the Corporation had made him endure. Unfortunately for Austin, it was the Corporate Champion himself that would cause his undoing. When all hope seemed lost for McMahon, The Rock walked down to the ring to taunt Austin. Stone Cold turned his back to the Chairman, and Vince seized the opportunity, popping back up to dispense with Austin, giving him the victory in the 1999 Royal Rumble.
