Then: Yoshi Tatsu was in WWE at the wrong time.

The company seemed to want him to be this happy-go-lucky beacon for Japanese pop culture, but he was actually kinda' boring because of that characterisation. Tatsu worked a short five minute sprint in the Rumble before being ousted by Mark Henry.

Now: Post-WWE, Yoshi returned to New Japan for a three year stay. After that ended in 2017, he moved over to All Japan and has since held both the Gaora TV and Tag-Team Titles during a successful stint. It's unlikely he'll ever return to WWE.
