Then: Punk was the head of a reformed Nexus in 2011. It was an odd idea, if only because WWE had made the originals look like colossal losers the prior August at SummerSlam. He was #1 in the Rumble, lasted over 35 minutes and eliminated seven other wrestlers.

Now: Most know about Punk's explosive 2014 walkout and his frosty relationship with WWE ever since. Most also know that few saw his return on throwaway recap show Backstage coming in late-2019. He sits atop fan wishlists for an elusive in-ring return.

It could still happen. Maybe.
