WWE Royal Rumble 2012 Main Event Set - CM Punk vs Dolph Ziggler for WWE Title

John Laurinaitis set up the match on last night's RAW and announced himself as the special guest referee.

On last night's WWE Raw SuperShow, John Laurinaitis announced that CM Punk will defend his WWE Title against Dolph Ziggler at this month's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Laurinaitis appointed himself as the special guest referee. The WWE Title match is a re-match from the bout on last night's RAW when Ziggler defeated Punk by count-out after interference from Laurinaitis but didn't win the title. The only other match currently set for the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view is the 30 man Royal Rumble match itself but we can certainly play the guessing game and believe Daniel Bryan and Big Show and possibly if fit Mark Henry (who is carrying around a groin injury and is noticeably hurt) in a three way for the World Heavyweight Championship is likely. The way storylines are building and because John Cena doesn't need to be in the Rumble because his WrestleMania match is already set, we will probably see Kane vs. John Cena. That leaves few major contenders for the Rumble itself, though Randy Orton is expected to have recovered in time to feature and is booked for the Raw show before the Royal Rumble and the Rumble itself from his hometown.
