CM PUNK Vs THE ROCK - WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH - IF THE SHIELD INTERFERE PUNK LOSES THE BELT Boots to asses. Knees to faces. What it all comes down to is putting asses in seats and despite a pretty poor build up on television CM Punk versus The Rock is guaranteed to do just that. Modern fans, Attitude Era fans and casual fans alike will be glued to their seats far more than they were when Rocky returned at last year's Wrestlemania to defeat John Cena as he goes up against the most dominant champion of the modern era this Sunday. Two of the companies greatest talkers and in-ring performers going head to head for the first - and possibly only - time ever should probably be the PPV main event, however sources in the WWE locker room suggest they want fans full attention on this one rather than have them sit through the Rumble match before hand which makes sense. What we've gleamed from the build up is CM Punk is worried he will lose the title not because The Rock is better than him but because The Shield might interfere. The fact that they are even involved means they will show up at some point but we can't quite figure out what role they'll play. Will they turn up and turn on Punk? Do WWE have a face turn in mind for the champion in the lead up to 'Mania? Or will The Shield somehow screw The Rock? We saw Paul Heyman's mental cogs turning when he was with Brad Maddox this week is it possible he could be the special referee for the match? Whatever happens we desperately need a strong finish in this match especially after Rock/Cena was interference free. Prediction: The most likely outcome here is Rock wins the title and heads to Wrestlemania. That's not to say it's the result we want or even the result WWE should push for considering Rock is only here for the short term, but a loss for Punk will not damage him. He can still claim no one on the current roster could beat him and maybe he'll get another chance to even the score somewhere down the line. Dream Scenario: If we absolutely have to have a new champ then how about this - Steve Austin nails Punk with a stunner. New champion.
