Alberto Del Rio vs. The Big Show: Last Man Standing (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
I, like many WWE fans, was perplexed by Alberto Del Rios win two weeks ago on Smackdown for the Heavyweight belt. While Del Rios babyface turn has proven to be the rejuvenation his career desperately needed, the match seemed to come out of nowhere, with little build-up within the rivalry to justify the stakes being set so high so early. More perplexing still was that the WWE announced Del Rios victory over The Big Show two days before Smackdown was even aired. Perhaps it was down to the pressure put on by the preceding Raw, which gave us a classic TLC bout between CM Punk and Ryback, but Show losing his title felt a little premature. Poor Alberto Del Rio cant seem to catch a break with any story hes been a part of recently, going all the way back to his attempted Brogue Kick ban in September. Nevertheless, if the actual Smackdown match was any indication, we all should be in for a spectacular contest come Sunday. Alberto Del Rio has been a total workhorse in the ring ever since joining the WWE, and his tenacity will match up nicely against Big Shows brutal athleticism. The Giant has been fuming ever since Del Rio used the announcers table to keep him down for the ten count, but has regained an air of his confidence about him, so hes not likely to fall victim to the same trick twice. Though Del Rio possesses the determination to defend his new title, it doesnt seem likely that he can keep Big Show down long enough without some ingenuity, as none of his signature moves nor his devastating Cross Armbreaker are designed to knock opponents out. Big Show has no such problem as long as he has his right fist.
Winner: The Big Show (New Champion)
