At this point, it will be more of a surprise if Ethan Carter III doesn't appear in the Royal Rumble match. Since the end of his contract with Impact Wrestling, it's become one of the industries hottest rumours that the former Derrick Bateman is heading to WWE. Having ascended further than anyone could have expected following his disastrous run in NXT, a surprise appearance in the Rumble would undoubtedly blow the roof off the Wells Fargo Center.
Having cancelled an appearance at a Renegade Wrestling Revolution event on 28 January, all signs point to an imminent EC3 debut. Past experience tells us that it's best not to get our hopes up about these sort of things, with expected appearances from Finn Bálor and Samoa Joe not materialising last year. However, the stars are aligned and all the evidence is there to suggest that it's a matter of when, rather than if, we'll see The Best Guy Anywhere in a WWE ring once again.
