Literally everything Brock Lesnar does sparks heated, divisive discussion in 2020, so the announcement that the reigning WWE Champion would enter the Royal Rumble at number one understandably hasn't sat well with the part-timer's critics. This columnist isn't amongst them. Lesnar's inclusion is an interesting, exciting piece of booking that not only adds an extra level of intrigue to WWE's signature gimmick match, but gives WWE's all kinds of ways to set the big man's WrestleMania 36 opponent up - provided they're smart about it.

If WWE are to use the match to build Lesnar's next opponent via elimination, Cain Velasquez makes a lot of sense. The Mexican slugger is 1-1 versus Brock between WWE and UFC. Their rubber match is an inevitability and this is an easy avenue to that, with Velasquez dumping Lesnar out of the Rumble and enraging 'The Beast Incarnate' to the point that he demands Cain face him at 'Mania.

Velasquez is one of the most interesting prospects in wrestling. Though his short AAA bursts looked promising, he still has a ways to go as a Sports Entertainer, but is undoubtedly a phenomenal athlete with outstanding real-life credibility from his MMA run. Let's hope he absolutely nails this pro-wrestling thing.
