Result: Edge wins the Rumble by eliminating Randy Orton (58:30).

Rating: You can argue that the Rumble win really should go to someone who actually needs the rub - or Daniel Bryan, for the love of God - but Edge's victory was such a thrilling, heartfelt moment that it's hard to protest too much.

If lacking the persistent energy of the women's Rumble this was a solid match which, similarly, didn't overdo it with the spots or cameos - though returns of a freaking jacked Carlito and Christian were most certainly welcome.

Orton's injury spot was as uninspired as it usually is in Rumble matches, but it at least served the purpose of leaving fans anxious that a sneaky, last-minute Orton win was on the cards. The layout did a good job of working fans right up the final moments of the match.

It was a shame to see the likes of Nakamura, Big E, and Daniel Bryan get such weirdly unceremonious eliminations, and Rey Mysterio being reduced to a walking beer commercial was embarrassing, but for the most part this was a solid Rumble, if hardly a classic. 7/10
