Kevin Owens has proven to be the ideal foil for a heel Roman Reigns, a face who combines in-ring excellence with high-risk stunts. He puts everything on the line for the WWE Universal Championship making it even harder not to root for KO.

Owens and Reigns put on a brutal match. Whether the two men were inspired by The Undertaker’s recent dismissal of the current generation of WWE as “soft”, they provided some stark evidence to dispute ‘The Deadman’s’ claims. Owens put his body through a highlight reel of brutality.

Even in loss KO’s momentum has been given a significant boost as SmackDown’s top face. Owens has been making a name as a risk-taking bumper, which, while worrying for KO’s health, is likely to dictate the matches he will be booked in going forward. Owens is money in high-risk and extreme stipulations.

With Edge’s Royal Rumble win, Reigns is likely to be engaged in “Battle of the Spears: Round Two” at WrestleMania. Owens may look continue the feud with Reigns, aligning himself with his fellow Canadian, Edge. At ‘Mania, the only certainty is KO having a death-defying stunt in mind for the night.
