Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. The Miz and Maryse sounds worthy of a midcard berth come WrestleMania 38. That's why, all going well, the heel couple will "steal one" (Michael Cole will be sad he's not commentating this match, eh?) on Saturday and leave with evil grins on their faces.
That 'Mania rematch is an easy bit of booking.
Logically, Maryse would pin Beth here. That way, the fired up super-mama of the women's division would be desperate to make amends inside AT&T Stadium this April. A heel win would also hand WWE some simple, satisfying payoff for the biggest weekender of the entire year.
Phoenix hammering Maryse as Edge punishes Miz in a painful submission sounds like the sort of thing WWE want in Texas. To get there, they'll need to disappoint the St. Louis masses by letting Miz and his missus come out on top at the Rumble.
They were always gonna squeeze more than one out of this.
