WWE's RETRIBUTION stable were originally booked to split in a big angle at WrestleMania 37.

This is according to group leader Mustafa Ali himself, who was interviewed on the Wrestling Inc. Daily podcast yesterday, revealing that WWE decided to bring the disbandment forward to Fastlane 2021 instead.

Sunday's pay-per-view saw RETRIBUTION's other members finally turn on Ali after weeks of being berated by their leader. Mustafa had just lost to United States Champion Riddle when he started ripping into the group, prompting Reckoning and Slapjack to walk out. Mace and T-Bar were less passive, nailing Ali with a double Chokeslam before bailing themselves, leaving Ali stewing.

As previously covered, Ali has been working through a torn PCL. He will eventually require surgery and rehab for the injury, and the idea behind the original plan was that if Mustafa was willing to push through the pain, WWE would run the big angle at WrestleMania.

This never happened. Instead, it went down on a B-tier pay-per-view's Kickoff Show.

RETRIBUTION weren't present on last night's episode of Raw. There is currently no word on what the future holds for Ali, T-Bar, Mace, Slapjack, and Reckoning.
