2. Shawn Michaels & God vs. The McMahons - Backlash, April 30th 2006
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvNKavKoK1s Yes, Shawn Michaels was guilty of putting his own agenda first in matches, but even some of his selfish behaviour can't hold a candle to that of Vince McMahon. Fans had been "treated" to a feud between Michaels and McMahon since the start of the year, with such highlights as HBK and Shane McMahon being forced to join the reformed "Kiss My Ass" club; in truth, when Michaels and McMahon met at Wrestlemania, they pulled off a mightily impressive hardcore match, where Michaels soared off a huge ladder, driving an elbow through a trash can and putting Vince through a table in the process. That spot and the victory for Shawn should have been the end of the feud, but clearly Vince had other plans. Instead, we were then treated to Vince claiming that Shawn had only won because he had "God" on his side - and therefore created a tag match for Backlash, where he and Shane would face off against Michaels and God. The match was clearly just a desperate attempt at grabbing headlines and for McMahon to be able say that he had "beaten God". The crowd were dead as the match opened with McMahon demanding that God (portrayed by a spotlight) be checked for illegal weapons by the referee. Shawn did his best to pull a reasonable enough match out of the scenario, but it really was for naught - the concept alone was enough to make this match suck horribly. To make things worse, the McMahons would pick up the win after the Spirit Squad interfered, highlighting the fact that this feud was still nowhere near over. It was just another treat for the fans in what was arguably one of the WWE's worst years.
