WWE: Should The Shield Split?

the-shield Emerging from the crowd, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, known to some as NXT stars, stunned the Indianapolis audience as they assaulted Ryback, powerbombing the challenger to CM Punk€™s WWE Championship through a commentary table, before escaping back through the crowd. The Shield have since gone unbeaten when wrestling as a unit. The Hounds of Justice made their PPV debut at TLC, stealing the show as they prevailed over Kane, Daniel Bryan and the Human Wrecking Ball. At Elimination Chamber, Ryback, Sheamus and Cena lost to the new trio, before Big Show, Orton and the Great White fell at WrestleMania 29. They interrupted Undertaker€™s post WrestleMania speech as the legend paid tribute to Paul Bearer, with the team only leaving when Team Hell No came to back-up The Deadman. The Brothers of Destruction and The Dazzler succumbed to the faction€™s strength the following week on Raw €“ making that four tag team wins in as many matches. The Phenom may have beaten Ambrose on SmackDown in singles action, but it was The Shield who had the last laugh, as they dominated the legend and ploughed him through a commentary table with their devastating team powerbomb. The one thing missing since their debut is a feud. All of the wrestlers they have faced so far have been between rivalries, meaning that, while they have a perfect team record, they have gone six months without a storyline lasting more than a month. This has led to some to ask the question: do they need to break up? The simple answer would be, no. Each one has their own unique talents. Ambrose shows intensity, which works brilliantly in promos, and it€™s he could be a major heel in years to come. Reigns demonstrates the power of the team and although he isn€™t the most charismatic, that weakness is hidden by Ambrose€™s own skill. Rollins has the ability and, out of the three, he is the one member who looks like he could be a face. Individually they could be picked apart, but together they are the complete package. The one disadvantage, the reason they haven€™t had a major feud, is that there aren€™t any other factions in the WWE worth noticing €“ 3MB is a modern day version of the Job Squad. Split them apart and that€™s three new single talents, each needing their own feuds and career paths. Talented wrestlers like Cesaro, Barrett and Bryan have been lost in the pack and the same thing could easily happen to at least two out of the three. The obvious solution would be to have them take the same route as Evolution. While they were a group, they rarely wrestled together, instead going after their own achievements. Why not have Reigns and Rollins go for Team Hell No€™s Tag Team Championships, while having Ambrose challenge for the Intercontinental or US title? It allows them to have individual feuds and belts, but remaining a team throughout. The Shield have their own look, memorable entrance and personality €“ when the lights dim and their music hits, the crowd instantly know who€™s coming. The audience know something is about to happen. Ambrose and Reigns are 27, while Rollins is only 26, meaning they have years to go in the business. The WWE would be mistaken if they rush the building process and split the team. In the matches I€™ve seen them in so far, each one shows the potential to be a main eventer. Believe in The Shield.
