WWE Show To Be Cancelled Due To COVID-19?

Could this be the first of many pro wrestling cancellations as the Omicron wave takes hold?

WWE could be on the verge of cancelling an upcoming house show following the COVID-19 Omicron strain's emergence in North America.

The promotion has an event on its Holiday Tour scheduled for Laval, Quebec, Canada on 30 December. Yesterday (20 December) saw Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé announce that the province was introducing a number of measures in order to prevent its health system from becoming overwhelmed, including the removal of spectators from sporting events.

While WWE is yet to make a formal announcement on the matter, it will be nigh on impossible for the Laval event to go ahead on 30 December, and, as pointed out by PWInsider's Mike Johnson, tickets are no longer available via Ticketmaster.

WWE has no further events scheduled in Quebec at the current time. Obviously, further restrictions in other parts of Canada and the United States could mean additional cancellations, postponements, and other alterations to the schedule.

Dave Meltzer noted on today's Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE and AEW are confident that Florida won't impose heavy restrictions should the Omicron wave impact the state the same way it has other parts of the world, making it a fall-back option.
