Independent wrestling standout Anthony Henry has signed with WWE, reports PWInsider's Mike Johnson.

Having confirmed the signing with several sources, Johnson writes that Henry will soon start at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This will precede his eventual debut in NXT.

Henry hit social media to pay tribute to his long-time home promotion PWX over the weekend:-

PWInsider's report notes that Henry's final independent appearance goes down for ACTION Wrestling on 12 February, so he'll likely report to the Performance Center sometime after that.

Henry, 36, is a 19-year pro wrestling veteran who rose to prominence on the southern indie scene, and is perhaps best known for his Workhorsemen tag team with JD Drake. One of the most celebrated tandems on the independents over the past few years, they were EVOLVE Tag Team Champions for a brief period of time in 2017, picking the belts up in July before dropping them to ACH and Ethan Page in September.

The WWE newcomer was with EVOLVE until November 2019, when he failed to capture the company's top title from current Performance Center trainee Josh Briggs in a match also featuring Drake.
