WWE SmackDown Teases MAJOR WrestleMania 39 Title Match

This expected WrestleMania match would please pretty much every WWE fan.

Drew McIntyre was booked to stroll out during a six-man tag-team match (Imperium vs. Braun Strowman, Ricochet and Madcap Moss) and stare down reigning Intercontinental Champ GUNTHER on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

WWE seemed intent on making a point that it'd be Drew solo challenging for the midcard strap. Previously, it had seemed like McIntyre and his tag partner Sheamus would work against GUNTHER in a three-way situation. That could still happen, of course, but it was Drew who eyed up the Imperium leader here.

Fans on social media are already getting rather excited about the prospect of a hard-hitting classic between the big Scot and the big Austrian. Sheamus' prior "bangers" vs. GUNTHER whetted everyone's appetites for more bouts exactly like it - McIntyre would be able to deliver there, no doubt.

It's worth noting that The Viking Raiders attacked Drew before Sheamus made the save. Strowman and Rico also got involved in that brawl, but Imperium largely stayed out of it. Basically, there's another kicking coming for Erik and Ivar down the road before WWE reaches WrestleMania.

Drew vs. GUNTHER would be great though.
