WWE SummerSlam 1998: 8 Observations From The Rock Vs Triple H

1. Exclusive Post-Match Footage

The WWE Network included the exclusive footage they filmed for the original SummerSlam 1998 home video on VHS. Remember those days? After DX went out to the ring to celebrate with their leader, they were able to help him backstage before The Rock could get on his own two feet. When The Rock finally made his way into the back, kayfabe was almost lost, as the camera briefly catches X-Pac approaching The Rock to greet him. Knowing the camera is rolling, The Rock briefly looks at him and turns away to continue walking the other way with the doctor. He walks down the hallway past Luna Vachon, as WWE personnel scream frantically looking for the Undertaker, whose match was next. The Rock speaks normally to the doctor, as they search for the right room to sit down and patch up in. Once they do, the camera fades out, then back in, for an improvised full-on character promo with cheap lighting in which The Rock begins by kicking out the doctor. Odd, but nonetheless a rare glimpse backstage. You can see it all transpire on the WWE Network.
