WWE SummerSlam 2015: 10 Things We Learned

2. The New Day Would Be Embraced As Babyfaces

Ironically, Vince McMahon's original idea for The New Day was that the group would be big babyfaces. Instead, their sickeningly cheesy presentation didn't appeal to most teenage or adult fans, and the unit was on the receiving end of abuse and booing quickly. At SummerSlam, Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods experienced their biggest face reaction yet. Normally, fans chant, 'New Day Sucks' along to the trio's clapping rhythm. That wasn't the case on Pay-Per-View recently. By stark contrast, the typically savvy New York audience embraced the collective, simply chanting their name over and over again. There were audible cheers when The New Day's music first hit, and fans were crazy when they won the WWE Tag-Team Titles. Maybe Vince McMahon will get his wish after all. It's truly difficult to remain an effective heel in 2015. Whenever a villain does something interesting, fans usually start appreciating them instead of hating them. The New Day definitely fall into that category, they're just too entertaining for most people to dislike.
