The New Day have competed in three matches in their SummerSlam history, but due to the unique make up of the team, there has been a different combination of the group for each one. Xavier Woods has partnered once with Big E and once with Kofi Kingston, and has wound up on the losing end both times.

In 2016, Woods teamed with Kofi while Big E was out injured, defending their titles against Gallows & Anderson. Just as the latter were about to score a victory, Big E returned to a huge pop from the crowd, attacking the New Day's opponents, disqualifying the champs from the match.

Then last year on the SummerSlam 2017 pre show, Woods and Big E defended the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against The Usos, with Big E eventually being pinned after suffering a double Samoan Splash.

Woods has never competed at SummerSlam outside of these battles, and since he is the only member of The New Day without a victory at the PPV, he may not be chosen to fight the Bludgeon Brothers this year either.
