WWE SummerSlam 2021: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

2. John Cena > Ric Flair (For The Sake Of It)

WWE seemed to spit the dummy post-Ric Flair release and decree that his daughter Charlotte wasn't allowed to boast about her surname. Then, they changed that commentary edict and went with the Flair thing again like nothing had happened. The promotion might not be done prodding Ric's legacy though.

They wouldn't, would they? They wouldn't put the Universal Title on John Cena at SummerSlam just so he could brag about being a 17-time World Champ (one more than Flair's reported 16). Stranger things have happened, but this would be suicide for SmackDown as a product; Roman Reigns has been carrying that brand on his back for a good 12 months.

Cena winning for the sake of it is one super-depressing thought.

Reigns' work isn't finished yet. He still has so much more to do before dropping that belt and crowning a brand new star who can lead Friday nights into the future. JC, as good and as marketable as he is, isn't the right choice, especially if it's just to beat Flair's record.
