WWE has today produced a new press release touting SummerSlam 2021's tremendous business success, with the 21 August pay-per-view smashing a number of previous records.

This was apparently the most-watched and highest-grossing SummerSlam in WWE history. Per the press release, 55% more people watched SummerSlam 2021 compared to 2020, with the show also up 29% on 2019's numbers (this is across Peacock and WWE Network). The total ticket sales broke the brand's indoor attendance and gate receipts records, with more than four times as many people attending than the last SummerSlam with fans (2019).

WWE announced an attendance of 51,326 on the night. They are going with that number again in the press release, though it's difficult to take this at face value, given wrestling promotions' propensity to inflate their crowd numbers.

On top of all of this, merchandise sales were up 155% compared to 2019. SummerSlam also took in more from sponsorship than ever before, growing 25% from two years ago.

An eventful night, if not an entirely well-received one, SummerSlam 2021 featured the returns of Becky Lynch and Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns vs. John Cena, Edge vs. Seth Rollins, and other highlight-reel moments.
