WWE SummerSlam 2022: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best
7. United States Title: Bobby Lashley (c) Vs. Theory
Result: Lashley made Theory tap to the Hurt Lock to retain the title (4:45).
Rating: This wasn't a great or even particularly good match by any means but it more-or-less did what it needed to.
It put Lashley over as an absolute monster capable of clawing back a decisive win after an initial stumble, while letting Theory preserve himself for his attempted Money in the Bank cash-in later in the show.
It didn't do much for Theory's stock ultimately, though, or persuade any of his doubters that he's really the Next Big Thing in the making - nor anything close to it.
The match had a story goal in mind and achieved it swiftly without any contrived or irritating shenanigans. That's good enough even if you couldn't be blamed for craving a more competitive bout. 5/10
