WWE SummerSlam 2023: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

6. Brock Lesnar Wins The Series

SummerSlam is a crucial event for Cody Rhodes, and maybe even more than some critics out there realise. He lost at WrestleMania, but has managed to maintain a significant babyface connection to the core audience despite that hiccup. Now, his feud with Brock Lesnar comes to a head this weekend.

Few will believe Cody can "finish the story" long-term if he can't conclusively put this series of matches with Brock to bed and move forwards with momentum. Rhodes is good enough to lose (as 'Mania proved), but patience with WWE's handling of him will run out if the writers aren't careful.

Cody losing 2-1 to Brock, then moping around the place before promising to bounce back stronger would be a quasi-repeat of something that's already happened with another opponent this year. That doesn't sound very fun, and it'd be a challenge to get people up for more Rhody Codes storytelling if he can't back up bold words yet again.

Careful, lads.
