Oh dear.

Look, some reading this writer's work are gonna start thinking he has it in for Charlotte Flair. That's simply not true, but he does despise when WWE lazily uses her as some escape route panic button and pretends it's what the entire audience at large demanded when they really, really didn't.

Flair can hold a belt at some point in the future again, obviously, but now isn't the time. It'll feel like Groundhog Day if she's on top of the SmackDown scene booting arses and acting like nobody's on her level. That's old hat, and it'd only suffocate the division on Friday nights all over again.

Don't bet against it happening though. WWE blatantly doesn't fancy Asuka as champ, and they might want to develop Bianca Belair's possible heel turn further before sticking gold back on her too. So, Charlotte would be the lazy creative team member's default poison of choice.
