7. Becky Lynch's Heel Victory

WWE had to walk a very fine line going into Becky Lynch's SmackDown Women's Title defence against Charlotte Flair in Australia. Any sort of clean victory for the Flairess would effectively see her Romanised for good. It's something anyone could see coming, but given WWE managed it with, well, Roman Reigns himself, it's also something they were apt to once more stumble blindly into.

Thankfully, they had their eyes wide open in Melbourne. Becky thwacking Charlotte over the back with the nearby belt whilst suffering in a figure four leglock made absolute sense, aligning perfectly with her character's desperate motive. Corey Graves, in a rare bout of commentary clarity, pointed out that keeping the title was worth more to Lynch than losing the purse - just as logic's invaluable to storytelling.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
