WWE Superstar Brings Old Gimmick Back On Last Night's Raw

Major Raw return has title match ramifications, but things don't exactly go to plan...

Elias returned in all his former glory on last night's Monday Night Raw.

The former NXT and main roster star returned in the semi-main event segment of the show and attempted to play a new song on the keyboard before a typical interruption bulldozed his plan. In this case, it was a bongo-playing Matt Riddle wishing to get in on the action before his United States Title headliner against Champion Seth Rollins.

That didn't go to plan either, as didn't much of anything for the babyfaces in the match. Elias scorched Rollins with a running knee midway through the contest, but re-entered later on after he was superkicked by the 'Visionary Of Drip'. Unfortunately for Riddle, the two collided and Rollins was able to take advantage with stomps to both men and escape with the belt.

WWE had promoted the guitarist gimmick making a comeback on last week's show, but speculation had mounted that this could be a red herring considering the months he'd spent as "brother" Ezekiel and the humorous mock-up of the Samson "family" the company created when that character was written off.

Instead, the ex-'Drifter' was indeed back, even if it appears as though his quasi-babyface run will be short-lived.
