WWE Superstar Stocks: 5 UPs & 5 Downs

4. Down - Alex Riley

What has Alex Riley got to do to become a major WWE superstar? Have an impressive physique? Check. Have some awesome entrance music? Check. Be a decent wrestler? Check. Turn heel in a bid to freshen up his character? Check. Yet, this week, Alex Riley's push as a potential top heel Superstar on NXT has already suffered its first setback. Usually, when Superstars return from a long period of inactivity, - in Riley's case it was due to an injury - WWE creative tend to push the wrestler and take advantage of the hype and fan desire to see them back in action. Riley returned at the end of January with a new fierce attitude and heel persona. Despite a strong start, it seems Riley's push may already be over. This week on NXT, Riley was defeated by Tye Dillinger. Yes, Tye Dillinger is becoming increasingly popular due to his Perfect 10 gimmick, but Creative have yet to give him a major push and his standing on NXT has remained the same ever since the gimmick's inception last year. So why has a freshly-returned Alex Riley been defeated by this stationary Superstar? Rumours were rampant last year that John Cena is not a fan of A-Ry; is Cena politically destroying his career or are NXT creative pulling the losing streak card to make Riley even more angry and aggressive? Only time will tell, but after this week, Riley's bid for superstardom is looking like an unachievable dream.
