The 1987 Survivor Series was Ricky Steamboat's return to the spotlight after having taken several months off due to the birth of his first child, future FCW/NXT talent Richie Steamboat.
From 2005 until 2013, the Dragon worked for WWE as a backstage producer and then as a trainer in the NXT system. After his son was released by the company in 2013, Steamboat has served as a WWE Ambassador who makes sporadic appearances when the situation calls for it - such as being featured as part of Ric Flair's 70th birthday celebrations on a February 2019 episode of Raw.
