WWE Survivor Series 1998: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

3. Shane McMahon Proved He Was Just Like His Dad

Survivor Series 1998 was a big night for The Rock more than anybody else, but Shane McMahon had a huge role that evening too. Prior to that, he was just an announcer on Sunday Night Heat and he also worked as a referee in the early 1990s as well. Shane was back in the refereeing role during his show. His biggest referee moment was in the Austin/Mankind match when he showed up after his daddy Vince pulled referee Mike Chioda out of the ring. Shane slid in, made the count for Austin and stopped after two to give Austin the double middle fingers. It was his heel turn. He counted the win for Mankind over Austin too. At the end of the night, Shane celebrated The Rock's WWE Title along with his father Vince. He said he was just like his father, which was his way of saying he was a heel. It was the start of Shane's run as a top heel in WWE, which lasted for several years.
