WWE Survivor Series 2016: Ranking Every Match From Worst To Best
What just happened?
Survivor Series has come and gone for another year, and it's safe to say that it's one of the weirdest WWE PPVs in recent memory. There was a surprisingly consistent slew of solid bouts, a lot of questionable finishes, and a shocking main event that's going to be discussed fervently for years and years.
Controversy aside, WWE served up one of the best traditional elimination matches of the last few years and gave the lower-tier titles their fair due in two mostly engaging matches (atrocious endings aside). You probably won't find everything on the show to your liking, but it's hard to fault the PPV's solid-to-great quality of wrestling for the most part.
Here is every WWE Survivor Series 2016 match ranked from worst to best...
8. Brock Lesnar Vs. Bill Goldberg
Result: After just two Spears and a Jackhammer, Goldberg pins Brock for the win (1:25).
Rating: This is sure to be one of the most divisive matches in recent WWE history. On a storytelling level, squashing Brock smartly brought him back down to Earth and made him beatable again, though the shock value only apologises so much for basically throwing away a massively hyped-up main event in less than 90 seconds.
Also, many are understandably upset that Brock was beaten by a middle-aged part-timer, and with word spreading that the two may be facing off in a third match soon enough, it seems like Goldberg may end up defeating Brock for a third time (or alternatively, Brock wins and Goldberg's current status as the kayfabe GOAT is possibly nullified).
It's an interesting idea and an iconic moment (in large part thanks to Brock's awesome reactions), but also a rather bemusing and unsatisfying one, especially considering a full-time roster member would've gotten a cosmic rub from beating Brock. 3/10
