WWE Survivor Series 2018: 10 Things We Learned
10. The Kickoff Show Needs Scrapping
...and in the future, the Kickoff show needs to be binned.
What's the point of it? Pre-show hype that fans can easily get themselves online, some talking head segments that flit between being legit interesting and totally dull, and a token match is all the thing has to offer. This year, that match didn't even mean a damn thing.
It was counterproductive booking to have a traditional Survivor Series elimination match on the Kickoff then have Michael Cole rubbish it during the actual pay-per-view; when Corey Graves half-heartedly remarked that SmackDown was already on the board with a victory, Cole brushed it off as meaningless to the overall score.
He's right: it was. So why did WWE bother to book it? Going forward, either make the Kickoff mean something or cancel it outright. It's not like pay-per-views need that extra hour to make them epic. The main shows themselves do that now they've been lengthened.
