The ongoing Bayley/Sasha Banks saga took a bizarre new twist on Raw last night, as 'The Boss' seemingly declared her love for estranged friend in a cringe-worthy backstage segment.

It came following a DQ tag loss to the returning Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke. The bout quickly devolved into a brawl, with Banks rushing in to save Bayley from a two-on-one beatdown, taking both opponents out to prompt the referee's decision.

This bled into an angle with Sasha trying to leave the building, but Bayley stopping her. 'The Hugger' demanded an explanation, and after throwing boatloads of praise her way, she signed off with: "You just don't get it. I love you, I always have, and I always will. There, I said it!"

Tension permeated the segment. It wasn't framed like a like two friends having a conversation, and Banks' mannerisms were in line with what you'd expect WWE's version of an awkward romantic confession to resemble.

The segment has led to speculation that WWE are about to spring a love angle, but it could be a ruse. Perhaps Banks is just trying to regain Bayley's trust, only to turn on her, leading towards a big SummerSlam match, or maybe their relationship is about to get super problematic (because it's WWE). We'll find out over the coming weeks.
