WWE: The Online Fandango Revolution
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Cvx55q6vnI You want to talk about a quick turnaround, last week Johnny Curtis A.K.A. Fandango was hated and booed out of the building on WWE's Raw. Cries of "WWE fans don't have the patience for him", "he doesn't deserve the push" or/and "why is he facing Jericho at Maina" were omnipresent online. Now one week later that has all changed. Literally Fandango looks to be 2013's Daniel Bryan, and just like Bryan he has go over what was on paper one of the worst gimmicks in WWE history. And guys, that is saying something! How did this happen? Well we must go back to Monday's Raw which came from the Izod Centre, in New Jersey. The NJ/NY crowd is a time-tested amazing crowd and that night was no exception, although I wish the crowd was that good the next before. The show that was held just yards from MetLife Stadium had a special atmosphere in the air. It will be remember as a historic show and a game changer thanks to the crowd. The crowd in the past has broken from the script and decided what they want .i.e. who they want to support. WWE rarely listens and writes off this action by "smarks" or other "niche demographics". Although let us not forget this exact same atmosphere and level crowd interaction caused the Austin Mega- face turn kick starting the Attitude Era, and a few years year caused the returning Hogan face turn in 2002. The whole night was marked with wild chants and antics from the fans. Things peaked after the waltzing entrance of Fan-dan-go! At first the crowd joined in with his entrance music. Then they continued to sing it during his match. That was fair enough. The clincher came after Chris Jericho's beatdown on Fandango, when he grabbed the mic and repeated his name! With that he won everyone over. Simple! His music hit and the fans sung it for most of the night, ignoring almost everything else. He was a made man, like D Bryan's loss at last year's Maina this has gifted him a simple and effective hook. By the end of the night the fans were not done, and as Wrestleview.com reported: "After WWE RAW went off the air last night in New Jersey, John Cena thanked the crowd for making the night so special for Dolph Ziggler and had them start the "we are awesome" chant again. Cena put the WWE Championship belt on the mat and said that was for them. Big reaction from the live audience for that. He then said at this point they usually play his music, but he wanted the crowd to sing instead. The New Jersey crowd started singing the Fandango theme song and Fandango's music hit to a big reaction. We also had a number of readers send word the crowd was still singing Fandango's theme song in the concourse of the arena as all of the fans were filing out. A Vine video can be seen here." This prompted one of the most random and awesome campaigns in wrestling fandom history. Last night Fandango's theme, named ChaChaLaLa, was at 156 in the UK iTunes charts and rising. This campaign that was started by the Facebook group, Wrestling Memes has gained serious traction. Since then has been picked by the Sun, Heelbook, and other Wrestling media outlets (MOS, The Wrestleview International Desk and more) and fans all over the world. The goal is simple make ChaChaLaLa #1 in the UK charts. by purchasing the song from iTunes, you can purchase it here, or here via Amazon. And in 12 hours it had already risen over 107 places surpassed Coldplay, One Direction, and Rihanna in the charts. At the time of writing it was in the Top 40 slot. I fully support this, as any chance to troll the charts should not be passed up. I think we all remember that fateful Christmas when Rage Against The Machine topped the UK charts with Killing in the Name. Here is a chance to do something a lot more entertaining. Successful or not, one thing is certain with his impressive win over Jericho at Wrestlemania and now the fans behind him in such a big way. It is Fandango's time to shine, #fandangorevolution.
