WWE: The Troubling State of the Under Card

There is an easy solution to this problem but chances are that Vince McMahon will start funding TNA before he takes a risk like this.

There is little that can be said about WWE's main even scene that hasn't already been said before. I could complain about how John Cena is always the focus of the main events rather than the WWE title which should be the focus. I could complain about the way the WWE is just reusing the same story lines again and again rather than thinking up something new to work with, but I'm not going to do that. I'm going to talk about the mid card and lower card of the WWE. WWE has many great wrestlers in its ranks but it is very rare for them to get a chance to show off their skills in the ring. Sure CM Punk is the Champion right now but he is the only one who is regularly featured actually wrestling. Other superstars like Daniel Bryan are amazing in ring performers but are just shown in backstage vignettes doing small comedy scenes rather than actually getting in the ring and wrestling. More importantly people like Tyson Kidd, Yoshi Tatsu and Ted DiBiase are so rarely featured that people would forget they are even employed by the WWE. These are the guys who have worked hard to be the best wrestlers they can be and always put on exciting matches yet are never get featured on Raw, the Flagship show of the WWE. The main problem comes down to a lack of reason for the WWE to expose these guys. They are content to feed us the same few people in the main events meaning that nobody can progress upwards. Take Dolph Ziggler for example - he is the Chris Jericho of this era, he has all the talent and potential in the world, he is heralded (by the internet wrestling community at least) as the champion without the World title and many times he has been poised to take the main event, just to be held back by the WWE so that one of the regulars can take his place. There is an easy solution to this problem but chances are that Vince McMahon will start funding TNA before he takes a risk like this. All that needs to be done is to elevate some of the mid level guys such as Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan into the main event picture. This would also flesh out the main events, then all that needs to be done is move some of the aforementioned under used wrestlers into contention for the mid card titles, the Intercontinental and the US championships. It's a strategy of basic rotation, the mid card wrestlers who prove their worth move up and the lower card wrestlers move into their position. It would help expose the under card and also save the stale main events.
