"The fear of death is always worse than the death itself. But the fear of the unknown is the worst fear of all." - The Undertaker on Mar. 10 Raw
At first glance, that just sounds like another pseudo-scary, obscure Undertaker line that we've come to love over the past 20 years. But in context, Taker's line to Paul Heyman didn't make any sense. Heyman had just interrupted the Dead Man, and cut a fantastic promo putting over The Streak, and made it feel even more prestigious. Heyman just highlighted a few simple facts, but when he put it in perspective with other top stars not ever being able to win more than a few consecutive Mania matches, it really made The Streak feel legendary. Heyman then told Taker that it is him who should be afraid of the unknown, because he has no idea what he's getting into with Brock Lesnar (well, actually he should have a pretty good idea since they fought in multiple pay-per-views during Brock's last run in the company, but let's just forget that for a moment for the sake of convenience...and WWE's bad memory) Taker then responded with his line of the unknown being the worst fear, as in Brock should be afraid of him. Did he not just listen to Heyman? It's Taker who should be afraid! Taker just turned it around and was like "Nuh uh, it's totally you whose gonna be afraid of me and the unknown! Boogie boogie boogie!" With Lesnar's part-time schedule, is this what the feud has already devolved into? We get a pre-meditated pen stabbing, and more "fear of the unknown" stuff? It feels like this was better suited for the classic Heidenreich vs. Taker feud, and not The Deadman vs. a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. But alas, Lesnar just wants to get paid. In the past, he slapped on a sombrero and danced around with a mariachi band for a few bucks. He's probably just happy he's not jobbing to Hunter again. Taker gets paid six or seven figures a year for one match, and five lines of dialogue a year. He already screwed one of those up. As punishment, next WrestleMania he should be take part in the Andre the Giant battle royal.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
